Small Business Award, won by Splashblade
Celebrated Construction in South Yorkshire Awards 2011
On Friday 7th October, the Celebrating Construction In South Yorkshire Awards dinner took place at the Cutlers’ Hall, Sheffield held by the Chartered Institute of Building working in collaboration with Little Spark, and celebrated high quality work by all parts of the region’s construction industry supply chain including developers, designers, builders and end-users, both large and small. The awards reflected the dynamic nature of the construction industry and highlighted the broadest possible spectrum of construction excellence delivered by businesses working in South Yorkshire. They demonstrated what can be achieved through strong partnerships, a clear vision and delivery through high quality implementation. Following last year’s event the CIOB confirmed that CCISY was the largest and most successful CIOB event held outside of London, a fantastic achievement.
This year’s awards promoted a range of different sectors essential to the delivery of innovative construction, from empowering communities through corporate social responsibility and investing in skills, to creating low carbon developments and being environmentally pro-active. The awards showed how the recession has helped to make companies aspire to even higher standards than in previous years, and produced 10 extremely well deserved winners who have continued to display excellent practices throughout this economically challenging past 12 months.
The Awards were open to organisations, both public and private; and also individuals located in and around the region and whose business is related to construction. The award categories were chosen to reflect the sensitive and diverse issues and matters current in a modern construction industry.

More Great News!
Caledonian Backpackers - Edinburgh
Hi there, we have ordered and installed Splashblade into 4 of our showers in our backpackers hostel, and are happy to report that they are successfully protecting our floor from water. The magnets are nice and strong, so our customers don't have to know how to use them, they find the closers automatically. It’s also fun how my showers close as nicely as my iPad cover.
Thankyou.

Volcanic Ash Clouds dashes Dragons Den dreams!
Sheffield based start-up Splashblade Products were booked in to film at Pinewood Studios for the current series of the BBC Dragons Den on the 28th April, having been told they were one of the strongest applications out of the thousands received.
Inventor Gary Daly and co-director, Martin Manning, had been through the gruelling process of initial screen tests and due diligence and were excited at the prospect of facing the Dragons and getting the valuable television coverage! Unfortunately the Icelandic ash cloud put paid to that. Filming for several episodes had to be cancelled because the Dragons busy schedules didn’t allow for the lost filming days. As Gary said "I am most disappointed at not being able to show the Splashblade to an audience of millions, I am sure it would have given a valuable boost to our online sales and enquiries.".
The programme makers told us that they were particularly impressed by entrepreneur Gary ’s solution to water escaping past shower curtains making floors wet, slippery and dangerous as well as causing expensive damage.
March 2010:
Roy Taylor (General Manager Karl-Benz Interiors Ltd - 12th March 2010)
"Thank you for installing our first Splashblade. The property where we trialled it, is used by six students and seems to have solved the constant problem of escaping water from the bath/shower area.
Both our Property Manager and Maintenance Engineer are equally impressed and on the back of this, we will be taking a stock order"
Steve Reaney (Painter & Decorator - 12th March 2010)
"I have recently had the opportunity to try out the Splashblade with much success. The product was easy to fit with no tools or expertise required and does exactly what it says it will do.
Turning a flapping wet shower curtain from which normally resulted in a sizeable pool of water on the bathroom floor to a watertight area.
The product is also elegant to look at and very unobtrusive. I would recommend this product to my customers"
